The International Day of Education on 24 January highlights the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on education and the importance of a human-centred approach. UNESCO IESALC supports higher education institutions in creating AI literacy programmes, providing students and professors with the necessary skills to handle this evolving technological environment, respecting ethical principles and ensuring equitable access.

In celebration of the International Day of Education, we share the experiences of 225 students from the Greening with Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Bootcamp, created by UNESCO IESALC in partnership with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC). Teams from 10 universities tackled environmental and sustainability challenges in various regions of the world, including the use of green artificial intelligence, the technology-enabled recycling revolution and rainwater harvesting.
