We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming IUPAP-UNESCO International Colloquium on Physics for Society, which will take place on 3 September 2026, from 15:00 – 16:00 CEST, online via Zoom.
The session will feature a talk by Professor Paulo Artaxo, one of the world’s leading authorities on tropical atmospheric science and climate change, on “Climate Change and the Impacts on the Amazon”.
Professor Artaxo will draw on decades of his research to explore how rising temperatures, decreasing precipitation and increasingly frequent climate extremes are affecting the Amazon rainforest, its ecosystems and its capacity to store carbon and what this means for global climate and sustainability.
